Amelie/Introduction

Born of an inauspicious union of an MFA student and a photojournalist guest lecturer who skipped out of town, Amelie Laurent grew up as the mildly unwanted daughter of a working class couple in Hackney Downs. Her mother worked whatever photography gig she could get and her stepfather was a warehouse manager who frequented the pubs and bars. She went to primary school and secondary school in Hackney, and spent a summer refurbishing and repainting graffitied walls for an ASBO charge after being found with drugs.

Her social worker, Sophie Smith, helped her get clean and on a better path. She excelled at secondary school, taking and passing her GSREs by age 17. She studied French and German in her spare time, and was a member of her secondary school's debate club. Following that, she kind of disappeared from normal view.

What happened was that Amelie went through her First Change during a brief assault at a park. She contacted Sophie, who happened to be Kinfolk and brought her mate; together, the two of them brought Amelie to the Sept of the Glass Towers, where she lived for roughly two years while learning about her nature as Garou. Following her Rite of Passage, she returned to the Sept of the Glass Towers with her cub pack – now cliath pack – and the group took on Stag as their patron. They left for France, chasing down a Black Spiral Dancer pack that was rumored to be operating within Paris as human traffickers.

Amelie returned alone, a little more haunted than she was when she left.
